Lieksan Yläkoulu Secondary School

Lieksan Yläkoulu is a secondary school with 228 students,36 teachers, 4 special needs assistents and other staff. We are an active school in a disadvantageous area. Our pupils are 12-16 years old.
We are offering pupils general knowledge teaching to prepare them to life after school; mathematics, languages, history etc. We are also offering pupils several clubs where they can study cooking, history, etc.

As a cordinator our job is to oversee the project, co-operate with our partners, run the finances and select the right students (students who are motivated, including low income, refugee, all kinds of pupils).
Our job is also to write the final report. Since our organisation is a secondary school, we hope to learn (digital skills, environmental sustainability, inclusion, diversity…) from this project and bring these skills to everyday work at our school.

With the participation in this project we aim to

  • exchange best strategies and practices;
  • develop students’ participation in international projects;
  • enhance our knowledge about sustainability;
  • respect human rights, and develop strong social skills.

Students from 12 to 16 years old and teachers take part in this project. Personal interest is important condition for choosing right people for the project.
